ANASTASIA NIKOLAEVNA was a Grand Duchess, the fourth and youngest daughter of Emperor Nicholas II and Empress Alexandra Feodorovna. She was born at Peterhof on 5 (18) June 1901. She was baptised on 17 (30) June 1901 in the church of the Grand Peterhof Palace, where Empress Maria Feodorovna invested her with the Order of Saint Catherine. Anastasia was educated privately with her sisters and brother; during the family's exile in Tobolsk, lessons continued, including music and foreign languages. After Nicholas II's abdication in March 1917 she remained with the family under arrest at Tsarskoye Selo and was later sent to Tobolsk. On 23 May 1918 she was taken to Yekaterinburg with Olga, Tatiana and Alexei. On the night of 16–17 July 1918 Anastasia was executed at the Ipatiev House together with her parents, sisters, brother, and members of their household. In 2000 the Russian Orthodox Church canonised her with the imperial family as a passion-bearer.
