Order of the Red Star

The Order of the Red Star was a Soviet state military award established by a resolution of the Presidium of the Central Executive Committee of the USSR on 6 April 1930; its statute was approved on 5 May of the same year. It was among the earliest all-Union Soviet military awards and recognized services in the defence of the USSR, state security, combat readiness and courage in the performance of military duty. Millions of awards were made during the existence of the Soviet Union.
