Medal of Saint Peter the Apostle, 1st Class

The Medal of Saint Peter the Apostle, 1st Class is the official insignia of the corresponding diocesan award of the Saint Petersburg Diocese. The 1st Class medal is documented in official reports from at least 2008. Later diocesan reports distinguish the 1st Class medal from the separately named silver Medal of Saint Peter, so the material, coating and other physical characteristics of the 1st Class insignia require independent confirmation. On 16 December 2025, the diocesan annual report stated that the Medal of Saint Peter in three classes had been approved in a new design and entered in the register of awards of the Russian Orthodox Church. This confirms a historical change in the physical design of the insignia, while the approved description and artwork of that new design have not yet been located in accessible sources.
